Hello
Woodworking has always been more than just a hobby—it’s a creative outlet rooted in a lifetime of technical curiosity, hands-on problem-solving, and a deep love for the arts. My journey began in the world of computers and technology, where I developed a strong foundation in systems thinking and design precision. That naturally evolved into working with my hands in the trades—carpentry, electrical, and fabrication—where I found a unique satisfaction in bringing ideas to life through raw materials.
At the same time, my background in theatre and the performing arts gave me a deep appreciation for storytelling, detail, and expression through design. As a technical theatre professional, I learned how every element—from lighting to set construction—contributes to an emotional experience. That same sense of purpose and care now fuels my woodworking.
What makes this journey even more special is that it's a family venture. My father and I started this project together, and we still collaborate regularly, trading sketches and ideas, refining each piece until it feels just right. It's a process built on trust, creativity, and that old-school joy of making something with your hands.
Whether you're looking for a custom piece to celebrate a special moment, a functional item with character, or a unique gift that will become a cherished heirloom, I love working with customers—new and returning—to design pieces that are personal, lasting, and meaningful. Every creation is an opportunity to craft something timeless together.
My Story
(OR: How a Theatre Geek, Trades Kid, and Computer Dropout Started Making Sawdust for Fun)
Let’s start with the obvious: I didn’t exactly take a straight path into woodworking.
Growing up, I worked in the trades under the watchful eye of my dad—a seasoned general contractor who could build just about anything but somehow couldn’t find a pair of work boots that didn’t destroy his knees. Watching him come home looking like he just wrestled a bear made me wonder: “Do I really want to feel like that at 50?”
Naturally, I turned to computers. It was the dot-com era, and typing looked less painful than hauling drywall. I enrolled in university as a Computer Science major… only to find out that sitting still wasn’t exactly my thing. Also, shoutout to my first-year programming prof, who taught Java like it was a secret code and a spoken dialect no one asked for. Try learning recursion from someone whose English was as broken as my will to debug.
So, I did what any practical person would do—I pivoted to theatre. (Yes, cue the dramatic eye roll.)
It turns out, theatre was the perfect blend of creativity, chaos, and craftsmanship. I built sets, ran productions, recorded audio, and eventually went on to teach young designers as a university professor. Today, I’m also a full-time theatre consultant, helping bring performance spaces to life across Canada.
But through it all, I kept building. Woodworking became my creative reset button. Whether it was custom gifts for friends, legacy pieces for family, or just messing around with new designs, it was always something I returned to.
Eventually, those same friends staged a friendly intervention and said, “You need to make this a thing. And you need a website.”
So... here we are. This is my not-so-slick attempt at sharing my passion project with the wider world.
I still work closely with my dad—tossing around designs, arguing over grain direction, and building pieces that matter. Whether it’s a custom heirloom, a personalized gift, or a project that tells your story, I love collaborating with folks who appreciate craftsmanship with a bit of personality.
Let’s make something meaningful. Bonus points if it smells like sawdust.
